BRW Marid Shamal

Update 9/06: Sham is really beginning to grow into his potential. Sham's training under saddle should start within the next few months. Sham is a gentle natured young stallion so I don't expect any difficulty in training him. The only problem that I foresee is finding enough time. I plan to breed him to an AK kuhaylan kurush mare and then geld him in the spring of '07.

Update 3/05: Sham is truly a beautiful young stallion. Although he hasn't filled out with maturity, the beauty is now obvious. Sham is of a rare dam line and better yet - he is stallion quality regardless of bloodlines. Although Sham can not pass on his dam line, only a stallion of the Kuhaylan Krush strain can produce pure in strain foals when bred to a Krush mare. It would be a shame to geld Sham, but I can only keep so many stallions and he has begun to realize that he IS a stallion.

Update 1/04: Sham continues to grow into his potential. His eyes are truly beautiful. When his winter coat sheds, the beauty that has been hidden under all of that hair may finally be obvious to someone other than me......

Update 1/30/03: Sham is beginning to show signs of the swan that is hidden beneath the duckling fuzz. Pedigree research has shown that Sham is one of the few Kuhaylan Kurush stallions (approx 40). Although Sham cannot sire foals that are Kuhaylan Kurush (strain is based on the dam), he is one of the few stallions that can sire 'pure in strain' Kuhaylan Kurush foals when bred to a Kuhaylan Kurush mare. Because I have confidence that Sham will mature into a stallion that is truly stallion quality and his rare strain, Sham will remain a stallion (much to his relief).

Original 2/2002: Sham is somewhat unexpected. He resembles foals that I have seen sired by his dam's sire - only with a prettier head. His grandsire tends to sire foals that look very 'weedy' for the first 3-4 years and then suddenly blossom into 'wow'. His dam is at the top of the pecking order, his sire tends to be high strung - Sham is mellow and at the bottom of the pecking order. Sham is probably the foal that will mature to have the best conformation and have the most potential as a sire, but right now.......... I look at his sire and dam to remind myself that he WILL look better.
